Hueth B, Melkonyan T. Journal of Regulatory economics 36(3): 219-246 December 2009. We study regulatory design for a pollution-generating firm who is better informed than the regulator regarding pollution mitigation possibilities, and who chooses an unobservable action when employing a particular mitigation plan. We distinguish among performance, process, and design standards, and study the relative merit of each type of regulatory instrument.

  • "Marketing specialty hogs: A comparative analysis of two firms from Iowa"

Hueth B, Ibarburu M, Kliebenstein J, Review of Agricultural Economics 29 (4): 720-733 Winter 2007. Although each firm is engaged in essentially the same activity, there are substantial differences across the two firms in the way production and marketing are coordinated. These differences are partly explained by the relative size and age of each firm, but also by the formal organizational separation between marketing and production activities in one of the firms.
